The weather turned on the sunshine once again for the match. We haven’t had too many overcast or wet games this season. Pitch was looking good. Other than one family going to the wrong pitch all were there ready and waiting to start the game.
The game started with a challenge for Torrens Valley with 2 players not showing up till later. Murray Bridge were pushing up and trying to score however goalie Georgia Toholke didn’t let it through. The game continued in the mid field with a tussle by both teams. The Murray Bridge goalie Chelsea Bell was amazing saving several attempts. All parents on the Torrens Valley side were commenting on her great skills.
Torrens Valley put a score on the board at the 31 minute mark, such was the evenness of the game, scored by Ruby Homer. Then shortly after she scored another.
At half time it was 2 – 0 Torrens Valley
The second half started similar to the first. The 2 players missing at the start of the game had arrived at half time and an injury at end of the first half Torrens Valley only had one reserve to call upon. The Murray Bridge Goalie Chelsea Bell also had an injury so Lilly King was thrown in to this position. Torrens Valley also changed their goalie and Claire Muller took up the challenge.
There was a couple of good goals by Mikayla Witters and Zara Witters for Torrens Valley. There was an amazing save at goal by Lilly King (Murray Bridge), did she not stop it from going through once, twice but THREE times and all at the game were amazed. Murray Bridge got a goal past the defence and goalie of Torrens Valley.
Overall it was a great game of sportsmanship and enjoyed by players and spectators.
