2021 U17G | 7th August 3:00pm | League Round 16 | WWSC Main Pitch 1 |
The U17 girls lined up for the last game of the day on what had been a busy day at the Woodside home ground. Unfortunately the Murray Bridge girls had a few unavailable to play this week, but two of the Woodside girls put their hand up to fill their spots and ensure a competitive match for both teams.
After a couple of weeks break the start was slow, but everyone was pleased to be back. The game was very evenly matched. Some great passing across the pitch saw the ball moving from end to end and all players working hard for the break-through. Finally, halfway through the first half Woodside managed to get a long ball forward of the defenders, ready for the Woodside striker who ran it forward and in for the first goal of the match.
The game continued in this competitive spirit, with opportunities on both sides and some great saves from keepers at each end. The final score came late in the game, again for Woodside, who caught the Bridge keeper out of position. As the sun went down on the pitch, the whistle blew and Woodside had finally found their first win for the season 2-0! Well done to all the girls from both teams!
