The Hahndorf Under 17s took on Blackwood Forrest at Pasadena on Saturday 22 nd June 2024.
The first half kept the George Papakostas, Daniel Peters, Jacob Gerber and Orlando Gray
under pressure and very busy in defence as Patrick Hinze who played goal keeper. Harry
Gould, Toby Thomas and Oliver Combe demonstrated their considerable fitness and
footwork keeping the ball moving through the centre. Logan Maxwell kicked strongly down
the field into the offence with Lewis Johnson and Andrew McKenzie attempting to slow
down the opposition’s attack. Toby was rewarded with a goal following a number of very
close attempts at goal by the strikers. Despite their best efforts, Hahndorf scored 2 goals to
Blackwood’s 5 goals in the first half.
Under the guidance of Team Coach, Dean Johnson, the team settled into the second half with
Charlisa Franklin as goal keeper. Pepe Zahra was skilful and measured through the middle
supported by Charlie Zorkovic who also had an attempt at goal just before full-time. Jet
Zahra worked with Daniel Peters to assist the team to slow the momentum of the opposition.
Toby Thomas skilfully kicked the team’s only goal in the second half with the final whist
leaving Hahndorf down seven goals to three.
