Match report

This beautiful, bright and cold Saturday morning saw Hahndorf U8 whites host Strathalbyn at Rob Kilpatrick Park.

Hahndorf kicked off with a blitz on the Strathalbyn defence from captain Carter Karamanov- resulting in a quick early goal that set the mood for the game. This attack was followed swiftly by some brilliant footwork from Zeek Neelawala and another early goal. The pair had an outstanding game of skill and nerve, working together to keep the pressure on Strathalbyn, who fought back to even the score before the end of the first half. Magnus Palmer put in a great half as goalkeeper, supported by Charlie Kilpatrick, Patrick Griggs and Angus Bretag who offered iron tight defence. Hahndorf worked so well as a team and the passes were smooth as butter despite the bright sun in their eyes. Neelawala and Karamanov relentlessly attacked, with many kicks and goals but Strathalbyn kept the game tight with some incredible goals and rock solid defense.

Returning from half-time break with sticky fingers, Handorf maintained their form. Bretag bravely took on the role of goalie for the second half and was outstanding, at one point diving through the air for an epic save. With a nail biting second half, the footwork in the wings was cunning as William Moran, Linus Doyle and Palmer all worked hard as a team. Karamanov and Neelawala both snuck in some fantastic goals in the second half, supported by a strong mid-field.

Hahndorf team and officials would like to thank the Strathalbyn team and officials for fun game.
