ROUND 3 Hahndorf Black vs. Rangers

The most perfect autumn morning, pitch perfect and green with fresh field lines painted. Attendance of all players was a fantastic vibe with the boys all kitted up and readying for action. With Hahndorf Black’s first game against an outsider club, the anticipation was strong. Team Black winning the coin toss and had kick off.

Starting on the field - Myles Pengilly (#5), Ellis Dunning (#16), Reeve Stephenson (#6), Logan Wooley (#7). From kick off, within 20 seconds Pengilly scores the first goal to set the pace of the game and quickly obtains the ball again and fires in another goal. Next play, with Wooley stealing the ball from Rangers and dribbling 3/4 field to score a goal. Stephenson gets the ball shortly after next kick off with an assist by Wooley and scores his first goal for the season!

Quick substitution with Brodie McKellar (#30), Darcy Hill (#32) and Sebastian Noble (#31) coming on. With the ball in Team Blacks half, players gathered around to get the ball out. Stephenson gets the ball with fantastic pass to Noble. Noble dribbled closer to the goal, striking the ball without stopping to score his first goal for the season. McKeller making quick work of 3 goals in minutes of being on the field and producing some effective tackles giving the assist to fellow team member Hill having an amazing run with 3 goals for the half!

Team black’s focus was to see how many passes they could get for the half before shooting for goal.

Rangers started the second half kick off with their team keen to get the ball in their half. Dunning was in the mix to clear the ball with a kick, which gets team black onto their stride again. Dunning kicks in, Pengilly getting the ball with a perfect lob-pass over opposition to Stephenson, who controls and dribbles all the way one-on-one with opposition, a perfect strike resulting with a second goal for Stephenson and a team highlight! Wooley provides a successful assist to Noble to score his second for the match. Hill and Mckellar with some amazing strikes at goal but just missing the mark, though scoring a goal each for the half. With the main focus of passing, team black stepped up and rose to the challenge with every team member getting an assist resulting in a goal from every team black player.

COACH’S WORDS - Amazing morning with an amazing team performance. The boys were very confident with their scoring skills in the first half, which lead to 2nd half challenge of passing before a shot at goal - Boy did they prove to me. The involvement and team playing by each player gave a sense of joy and proudness to every parent and family member watching.
