Warm sunshine saw the game start at a slower pace as the players acclimatised to the conductions. The first half centred on the midfield with each team searching for a way through. Stirling opened up some good chances from just inside the edge of the 18-yard box but couldn’t beat the Strathalbyn keeper who held firm. Strathalbyn then pinned Stirling down in a series of corners but again couldn’t find a way through. Nil all at half time.
The second half started the way the first finished and saw Strathalbyn again pin Stirling down in its 18-yard box in general play and for a series of corners. Finally in broken play Strathalbyn were able to slot a goal from the edge of the 6-yard box. The game then opened up with greater intensity and more end-to-end play. Despite many good good chances for both sides neither was able to slot any goals – with some bold keeping and good saves the order of the day.
